Due to the great conversation that was had at the last TreatNow Twitter Chat, of course we had to host another one and turn it into a regular feature. Our next tWitter chat is going to be held on Tuesday 14th July and you are invited to join in or simply read along as the experts have a discussion about the issues that are important to them. This month the topic of conversation was trends and the influence that this has on treatments for the clients. The fashion forward Knightsbridge salon RYS had some great contributions to the chat, as did Holistic Wellbeing Professional Jo Tocher. Here is what they thought about the impact of trends…
Would you ever convince a client to not get a treatment of you thought they didn’t need it?
Quite often clients come into salons and wellbeing practices with a treatment in mind but are they the best person to judge what they need? We wanted know whether or not health, beauty and hair practitioners would actively discourage people from getting a treatment they didn’t need? Jo Tocher said that ‘if a client didn’t need a treatment I would tell them, in the nicest possible way of course.” RYS Hair and Beauty agreed with this saying “If we believe that it’s not going the achieve the result they desire – absolutely! Consultation is top priority for us.” At TreatNOW we have definitely found by speaking to salons and healthcare professionals that consultation is often the most important difference between average and high quality treatments.
Do you think people rely too much on trends to influence their look/self care?
It has been said before in one of our previous interviews that clients in the UK are more likely to be influenced by trends than people in other countries. So we wanted to find out if those in the UK rely too much on trends when they go for treatments. Jo Tocherhas found that “people like to try out new trends if they don’t like them they go back to their tried and trusted care that suits them”. RYS mirrored this but also said that they try and steer their clients way from trends and towards their own style “People look for inspiration with regards to new looks and often find it in new trends. We encourage individuality.”
What are the big trends in health, beauty or hair you’ve noticed this year?
When it comes to wellbeing trends, we at TreatNOW have certainly seen a rise in the popularity of mindfulness as a relaxation technique and also of the idea that your state of mind is now being recognized as a powerful factor in determining physical health. In the hair and beauty department RYS Hair says “We see the rise of popularity in bob, fringe and layer haircuts” which is definitely a celebrity lead trend if we ever saw one.
Our next Twitter chat is being held on 21st July and will be on the topic of… Client wellbeing!
