With locations in Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Cheshunt in Hertfordshire and Central London, Clipso Salons evidently know how to run a successful hairdressers. This fashion-led salon group were kind enough to speak to TreatNOW and let us in on their business secrets, the hair trends to try right now and the history behind the salons. 

How did Clipso Salons begin?

Back in 1979 Clipso was founded by the late Terry Calvert.   The first salon opened in Watford with other salons opening to cater to demand shortly after – Hemel Hempstead, Cheshunt, St. Albans and London.

How do you make your service special for each client?

We pride ourselves on our customer service.   Each client’s visit is anticipated by the stylist and an opportunity to enhance her/his cut/colour/condition is met by a full consultation.
In your opinion, what is the selling Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 13.08.11point of your brand?
What makes you different from other hair care brands?   We are always moving the Clipso dynamics – ensuring that each client that leaves our salon following a hairdressing service is both a shining example and fabulous advertisement for our brand.     We pride ourselves on the fact that over half of our clients have been referred through recommendation.

Can you give us some tips on how you can develop a brand and grow your customers?

Consistency, credibility and most importantly sharing the brand ethos with your team.

 According to yourself, what is the newest beauty trend out there for men or women and why?    

I strongly believe the curl is back – it’s exciting to see and say – as I am generally speaking, the biggest sceptic around – but it’s most definitely the strongest trend for Spring/Summer 2015. Thank you Sienna Miller! Thank you Orlando Bloom!

As I mentioned earlier we are generally recommended by our clients but obviously don’t rely on that!    We have a strong website/strong social media programme implemented designed to continuously entice new clients through our doors!

If a new business/salon was setting up, what’s the best piece of advice you could give them?

Invest in the best hairdressers you possibly can who share in your dream.   Be realistic – don’t stretch yourself financially.
What is next for Clipso Salons in terms of treatments or services? What can we look forward to?  
We have just launched our Spring/Summer 2015 collection in-salon – featuring four strong hair trends that we will be promoting within the salon group, we are also introducing a  C.C.C. MENU –  COMPLETE COLOUR CONFIDENCE menu – which has been designed to entice our clients back for quick fix colour refresh treats between their scheduled appointments.
