Tam Mcgann has been nominated by her sister-in-law, Clare McGann. This is no unwarranted nepotism though, Tam is a breath of fresh air when you are feeling in need of being looked after.  Clare and I have been friends for many years and she recommended Tam to me a long time ago.  Tam is a mobile therapist, she comes to your home with her table, oils and towels and her own very special brand of magic.

Aside from massage, Tam  was one of the first people to introduce me to Reiki. I was a bit sceptical to say the least, but that soon disappeared. I didn’t know that Reiki could be so visual and emotional. I had no idea what to expect, when suddenly after my massage, Tam paused. I had my eyes closed, and my brain exploded into a kaleidescope of colour. For me it was like having my emotions massaged, and the stress and strain floated away; leaving me feeling much more energised and just able to get on with life.

image1. Why did you become a therapist?

I needed a career change after leaving stressful TV life. I went to sports therapy college with the intention of learning as much about the body as possible – to be a knowledgeable personal trainer. But I found that I loved massage more than PT.

2. Why and when did you decide to be a sole trader or company?
Straight out of college, I got a job at a spa; but I didn’t like how rushed I felt, to have clients in and out within the hour, how little we were paid or being in one small room all day. I became a sole trader within a month.

3. What makes your service special?
By going to people at home and being available at random hours. Also being really good!

4. What’s your preferred ways of communicating with clients?
Clients text, call or email. All fine with me

5. And finding new clients?
Word of mouth. Referrals are important so I don’t have to go to a stranger’s house.

6. What’s your proudest business achievement of 2014?
I don’t think ‘proudest business achievement’ is relevant to what I do! I work one to one with people who need it, not to score points.

7. What’s your biggest challenge in 2015?
I don’t set myself challenges. Again it’s not my style or work.

8. What’s your hidden talent?
Making unprocessed sweet treats.

image9. What’s your oddest request?
Naked massage… Absolutely no towels – Naked yoga.
I said, only with my husband!

10. What’s your favourite piece of business advice to pass on?
Your own health and well being is more important than your bank balance.
