On Monday I talked to Alexandre Long who owns West End Physio in Wardour Street.  I had a pretty major ski accident in March and ruptured the ACL in my knee. Alex’s team showed me how to start rebuilding my muscles and got me off crutches within a few weeks.

Why did you become a physiotherapist?
Just by chance, as at the end of 1st year at medical school , I ticked physiotherapy and  medicine instead of dentistry and medicine. No regrets, as it brought me my life in London, my wife….and my kids

Why and when did you decide to expand into becoming a company?

When We left the skiing industry business to come to London, I did not want to stay a one man band and wantd to form a business partnership.

imageWhat is special about West End Physio?

Its long term presence in the heart of Soho, in a world where business tends to have a quick life span and the quality of the therapists. It’s very important to me that we have a holistic view of the each and every individual patient.

Did you prepare a Christmas marketing campaign and what did you do?

Most of our referrals come from word of mouth or from long formed partnerships with consultants. We also work with many insurance companies. We have not done a Christmas marketing campaign as such, but we are featuring a skiing blog thanks to Lisa Cordwell, one of our physios who is ski training this year. (TreatNOWblog will be posting a sample from Lisa’s blog tomorrow)
What’s your preferred ways of communicating with clients?

Email, as allows you to work out of office hours.
What’s your biggest challenge in 2015?

Moving into new premises and keeping my team together, in the world of a transient workforce!  I choose very high calibre people who are often keen sports people themselves and like to travel.
What’s your hidden talent?

I am French and grew up skiing in the French Alps. I spent many years there as a ski instructor, eventually running my own company.

What your proudest business achievment in 2014

Building a new team and developing our ergonomics workstation service. Prevention is always better than the cure!

imageWhat’s your favourite piece of business advice to pass on?

Rome was not made in a day. For example, nothing happens overnight (especially in the healthcare world) and always listen to people older than you, as they’ve done it before!

West End Physio offers expert physiotherapy, as you might imagine! Other services include:

  • Osteopath
  • Podiatry/Chiropody
  • Massage
  • Muscle balance assessment
  • Strength and conditioning
